In Power of Reading Year 2 have been reading a non-fiction text all about the Great Fire of London and learning new facts about this historical event. This week we have been learning to make our very own houses from 1666, when the Great Fire of London took place. We thought about the materials houses were built from in 1666 and which materials we could use in class to replicate them. We were able to use some of the skills we have learned as part of Art Week to paint our houses and create doors and windows. After we completed our 1666 houses we wrote our very own instructions so that other people can make me too! Once we had written our first draft for the instructions, we had an opportunity to edit our work to correct any errors, add missing words and make our sentences more interesting.
