Reception have been enjoying The Jolly Postman as a core text! We know that writing can carry many different purposes. We wrote a 'missing page' from the Jolly Postman, writing an apology letter in the role of the fox to the gingerbread man. We use our Fred Talk strategies to sound out simple cvc, ccvc and more complex words, and used our red word charts to help us when writing common non-standard spellings.
We have learned the importance of naming and addressing envelopes so that they get to the right person and place! We know that stamps help to pay for the postage system. We used our fine motor skills to paint, cut and stuck the post people.
