Reception enjoyed an exciting visit to Spitalfields City Farm this half term. Despite the rainy weather, the children arrived full of enthusiasm and ready for adventure! This term in Reception, we have been learning all about animals and their habitats as part of our topic work, alongside exploring a range of animal stories in our literacy sessions. The trip provided a fantastic real-life opportunity to bring our learning to life.
The children were thrilled to see so many of the animals we have been reading and writing about in class. We talked about the different habitats the animals live in and how the farm makes sure they are safe, warm and well looked after. The children were excited to notice features we had discussed in class, such as wool on the sheep and feathers on the chickens. It was a wonderful way to deepen the children’s understanding of our topic and create a memorable learning experience.
